Buoyancy
06:09
|
|||
For days they laid afloat swimming over fault lines
The bay lay in hope since the vessel’d capsized
With a compass and a sextant, humble tools maintain the course
Topographical adjustment, tempestuous force
Beneath them the seascape had come alive
Rich phosphorescence had been carefully laid down on the seabed
And above them was mirrored across the sky
A home built at sea, a tether bound
To pontoons filled with steam and angered nouns
Enfeebled rivalry with every sound
Conduce the buoyancy to save from drowning

Piaget's Mountain
04:55
|
|||
The peaks, are they arranged in the same line?
The peaks, are they all dotted with pine?
Inspired by channeled hope
Despite the gale that had blustered
Yet we forge ahead
With our backpacks towards passes
It’s steep, far too steep to climb
Too deep to recognize what’s behind
Does the massif overlook pastures below?
Piaget’s mountain, does it look like mine?
Sublime will shadow hope
And the unknown can’t be trusted
Yet we forge ahead
Walking backwards towards passes
And if you’re feeling lost
Like the magnet’s left your compass
Just look above
We’ll share the morning star
Wherever you are

Virtues
04:01
|
|||
If you’re going to the north
You know I’ll try to move on
But a piece of me tags along
So I don’t live the lie
Of just keeping the warmth inside
If your worry is too strong
You know I’ll try to console
With every piece of me
Prove you wrong that
We neither have to hide
Nor fear what once had clenched our sides
And pages of notes
Simple words that struck the most
Reflections of a wholeness
Proclaimed as anew
Sustained thus far
Don’t mitigate the pain once caused
Reflections of the highest
A life steered by truth
So I don’t live the lie
Of just keeping the warmth

Silent Partners
04:15
|
|||
You were the first to say I needed help
Comforting words you said were 'go help yourself'
You got me first to press my sense of self
Question all that I’d thought and how that I felt
In my defense, I was found a coward
Of righteousness, clouded by when I was alone
Spoken with such a clarity
Unbounded by text or a degree
Above the zone coined by Vygotsky
Reading from your side, I gotta find a way around
Admitting to what’s right, I gotta talk my way out
Aesop’s fox’s vine, sour were the grapes
It’s easy to despise what won’t go your way
You won’t find your sense of self in me

Homerun
02:50
|
|||
Hit the ball and race for home
And while you run remember that it’s just for…
And as you turn your legs, they’ll burn
And with the sideline cheering
The bat is thrown, you’re on your own
The turn around third, and now you’re on the race for home
And as you slide, your eyes shut tight
With thoughts of if you’ll make it
From here you’ll see above the trees
From shoulder height you’ve won the fight

Fluted Spires
03:38
|
|||
Few would barely hike
Few would hardly tread a step
Engrossed in the tales that all had read
of a few that would carry hope
A few who would dare to duck the rope
'Cause on the other side, on the other side,
there's no apex in sight
and the clouds strangle the light
engulfing all to see.
Discourse inverts to life
and the thoughts of his wife
gathering her deeds
for the courage that he needs.
Strapping in and straighten the spine
Muffled sounds as you put your ears to the pines
And the beckoning of the fluted spires.

Cold Has Beaten You
03:07
|
|||
Some things just go
Left before the morning light
Where nobody knows, not I
You see it’s true
When skating over fractured ice
Underneath the cold surprise awaits you
Go, go, going, gone, gone are the days
when we were warm
and I coming home to let you know
the cold has beaten you
And your solemn ways
These comforting songs won’t play today
Stall when you need a hand
and break suddenly
Just help me understand
Go, go, going, gone, gone sunshine rays
Comforting sounds
and I coming home to let you know

Blivet River
04:19
|
|||
Woken up in the middle of the night
Whispers under cover
My baby sleeps beside
I'm torn away
Thrown down the staircase
through the doors onto the street
There's a rope around my ankles
and bedsocks on my feet
I'm going away
Deep down the river
An Escharian blivet
Stop, I can deliver
A day or two, I'll get the money to you just don't hurt her
Stop, I don't believe you
It'd be a shame if that pretty little thing just happened to, well...
The strop against the leather
Stockwhip left sweating
The fire cracks and gleams on bridles
Around the pack I secretly sidled
Untie the ropes and set the horses free
Grab the reigns and hand on the saddle
and ride away
Lost for words with which to hide behind
I whispered that I love you
My baby sleeps inside
I'm here to stay

Fairer Tales
03:52
|
|||
Take a seat, sweet dear
With a slightly smiling leer
She held a tightened grip
With a crackle of her lips
With them around the food, we will surely starve
so take them out to the woods and we can just go halves
and they won't find their way home
The boy, he overheard every malicious word
Against her head he laid while the trees rustled and swayed
And as they went out to the woods, with every step they'd tread
Hands inside the hood dropping bits of bread
Gretal just hold my hand, follow my lead and I'll guide our way home
Where did the morsels go? Hansel, well, you don't know
how to find our way home

Forest Fires
04:43
|
|||
Amidst the haze
Its creeping up
All the way the blaze
It’s sneaking up
As they lay awake
Feeding cubs unabated
They sense the change
Sound travels highways to the amygdala
Fear sets in before registering the flames traveled higher
So no need for’n excuse save a life of recluse
Escaping out of the forest straight into the fire
We contemplate
Giving up
The way
We hesitate
Sound travels highways to the amygdala
Fear sets in before registering the flames traveled higher
So no need for’n excuse sufficient reason induced
Escaping out of the forest straight into the fire

Cabin Fever
03:46
|
|||
Go run and hide your children
Stow them away in the ceiling
Then race down to the front door
Don’t be surprised by what can sabotage an instinct of protection
From the menace that is waiting patiently outside the door
Paint the lights out and draw all the curtains
Check that every latch is locked for certain
The scratching on windows burns the ears
The rattling handle sends their fears away
With a quick glimpse of familiar eyes
Reflected in the kitchen knife
Spoken with a calm inflection
Don’t be surprised by what can sabotage an instinct of protection
And with both hands, pulls them closer
Until we find out that the menace that was waiting outside
wasn’t the killer after all

Hello Breeze,
Swing on by and pick me up and take us both away to where you please
into the night, I don't mind which way we go, I'm at your whim, I won't put up a fight.
Motioning off to the distance, directed towards shimmering lights, that's where we're headed tonight.
Who taught you or was the sense innate? Don't perplex yourself you'll hesitate.
What extent did nurture have to play? The Platonic- Aristotelian debate.
The strength with which it blew, the further that we flew, ascending up the flue, suspended there left self-aware of not what's gained but what's at stake to lose.
Hello moon, I've seen the way you look at me, I didn't think I'd get to see you soon.
